Woods also led the Tigers (5-3) with 10 rebounds. The contributions of guards Cullen VanLeer and Frankie Hughes allowed Missouri to outscore Miami 24-5 to open the second half to pull out to a 50-30 lead with 13:57 left in the second half.

VanLeer had eight points and Hughes scored seven in that game-turning stretch.

Miami (4-5) had only two scorers in double figures in the game with guard Marcus Weathers and forward Bruno Solomun each finishing with 11 points.

The RedHawks (4-5) trailed by only one (26-25) at halftime despite shooting 27.7 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from 3-point range. Missouri was similarly cold making 29 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Tigers gained separation to start the second half behind four 3-pointers, including two each by Hughes and VanLeer, in the opening run. Hughes set the tone making a shot behind the arc while getting fouled for the first basket in the second half. He made the free throw to complete the four-point play.

Woods, Puryear and VanLeer combined for 41 points in the second half while making 12 of 17 from the field. VanLeer went for 4 of 6 from 3-point range in the second half.
