Sophomore guard Chris Jones scored 23 points, helping Pitt beat Wake Forest 101-96 in double overtime Tuesday night at Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh.

Senior guard James Robinson had 22 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for Pitt (18-7, 7-6 Atlantic Coast Conference). Junior forward Michael Young had 17 points and eight rebounds, and junior forward Jamel Artis added 19 points and seven rebounds.

Sophomore forward Cornelius Hudson scored 22 points for Wake Forest (10-16, 1-13). Freshman guard Bryant Crawford contributed 20 points.

Pitt took an early 15-14 lead, but Crawford scored the next eight points to put Wake Forest up 22-15. The Demon Deacons later took a 32-24 lead, but the Panthers ended the half with an 11-1 run to go up 35-33 at the break.

Wake Forest reclaimed the lead early in the second period, but an 8-2 run put Pitt up 41-36. The Panthers maintained a lead until the Demon Deacons mounted a 10-0 run to tie the game. Robinson made a 3-pointer with 19 seconds left to force overtime. He made a late free throw to send the game into double overtime.

Wake Forest took an 89-88 lead on a 3-pointer by Hudson in the second overtime, but big baskets by Artis and junior forward Sheldon Jeter helped Pitt prevail.
