Jahlil Okafor recorded 10 points, including two big late buckets, and Justise Winslow - the fourth member of Duke's star-studded freshman class - added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils (35-4), who finished the season with 18 wins in their final 19 games. Jones scored a game-high 23 points and Allen added 16 off the bench for Duke, which overcame a nine-point deficit in the second half.

Frank Kaminsky registered 21 points and 12 rebounds to pace Wisconsin (36-4), which upset previously undefeated Kentucky in the national semifinals but was unable to hold on down the stretch Monday in failing to win its first championship since 1941. Nigel Hayes (13 points), Sam Dekker (12) and Bronson Koenig (10) also scored in double figures for the Badgers.

Kaminsky and Dekker scored on back-to-back layups to put Wisconsin ahead 58-56 with 4:24 left, but Jones answered with a contested 3-pointer and Okafor scored on a layup with Kaminsky wrapped around him. Another Okafor layup and another 3-pointer by Jones increased the lead to 66-58 with 1:23 left, although the Badgers got within 66-63 in the final minute before Jones knocked down two foul shots with 34.9 seconds remaining.

After the first half featured 13 lead changes and three ties, including a 31-31 deadlock at the break, Koenig opened the second half with a 3-pointer and later added two more jumpers and a layup to help the Badgers go ahead 48-39 with 13:23 to play. With Okafor and Winslow both on the bench with three fouls, Allen made a 3-pointer, a three-point play and two free throws in just over a minute to help the Blue Devils get within a point on Jones' three-point play with 10:42 left.
