Wisconsin 72, Oregon 65:
Sam Dekker led the way with 17 points as the Badgers knocked off the Ducks in the NCAA Tournament round of 32 for the second straight year, this time from Omaha, Neb.

Frank Kaminsky added 16 points and seven rebounds for No. 1 seed Wisconsin (33-3), which will take on fourth-seeded North Carolina in the West Regional semifinal. Nigel Hayes scored 14 points and Bronson Koenig had 12 as the Badgers advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in the last five years.

Joseph Young scored 30 points on 12-of-25 shooting for No. 8 seed Oregon (26-10). Jalil Abdul-Bassit scored all 12 of his points on 4-of-5 from beyond the arc for the Ducks, who could not overcome a 29-7 disadvantage in free-throw attempts.

Abdul-Bassit hit a pair of 3-pointers and Dwayne Benjamin added another in an 11-4 Oregon run that knotted it at 52 with just under six minutes to play. Dekker’s 3-pointer off a turnover put Wisconsin in front 58-52, and the Badgers went 10-of-12 at the line in the final 63 seconds to put the Ducks away.

Wisconsin took a 29-21 lead on Koenig’s 3-pointer, but Oregon closed the first half on a 7-2 run to cut it to 31-28 at the break. The Badgers got five straight points from Zak Showalter to restore the eight-point advantage with under 11 minutes left before the Ducks chipped away.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Wisconsin knocked off Oregon 85-77 in the round of 32 last season despite Young’s 29 points. … Kaminsky went 6-of-13 from the floor, ending a streak of nine straight games shooting at least 50 percent from the field. … Oregon F Elgin Cook, who scored 18 points in a round of 64 win over Oklahoma State, was held to two points on 1-of-8 shooting.
