No. 23 Georgetown 60, Creighton 55: D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera starred down the stretch and finished with 25 points to help the Hoyas survive the pesky Bluejays in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Joshua Smith added 10 points for second-seeded Georgetown (21-9), which struggled against the 10th-seeded Bluejays (14-19) but used a game-ending 15-4 run to advance to Friday's semifinal matchup against sixth-seeded Xavier. Smith-Rivera scored 12 points in the decisive run and finished 7-of-13 from the field, 4-of-7 from 3-point range and 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.

James Milliken had 11 of his 17 points in the first half for Creighton, which was outscored 20-6 at the foul line and committed 18 turnovers. Austin Chatman pitched in 11 points for the Bluejays.

Creighton led by six with 5 1/2 minutes remaining before the Hoyas rallied behind Smith-Rivera, who scored on a 3-pointer and a three-point play to get his team within a point, and later added an off-balance bank shot with a minute left and four free throws in the final 18 seconds. The only other Georgetown player to score during the final five minutes was Smith, who took a nice feed from Jabril Trawick and dropped in the go-ahead points with 2:07 remaining.

Georgetown led by six at halftime before Milliken scored six points during an early 8-2 run as Creighton drew even at 33. The Hoyas later moved ahead 44-39 before the Bluejays surged in front on Chatman's 3-pointer with less than nine minutes to go.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Milliken and Geoffrey Groselle combined to shoot 7-of-9 from the field in the first half. Their teammates were 1-of-13 collectively. ... Smith-Rivera has scored 20 or more points eight times this season. ... Mikael Hopkins notched seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals off the Hoyas bench.
