No. 19 Baylor 83, No. 20 Texas 60: Kenny Chery drained five second-half 3-pointers while scoring 23 points as host Baylor routed Texas in Big 12 play.

Royce O’Neale added 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists and Rico Gathers collected 15 rebounds to go with eight points for the Bears (16-5, 4-4). Johnathan Motley and Taurean Prince each scored 13 points for Baylor.

Jonathan Holmes scored 17 points and Isaiah Taylor had 16 points and a career-high 10 assists for Texas (14-7, 3-5). Cameron Ridley had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Longhorns, who fell behind early and trailed the entire contest.

Ridley’s dunk pulled the Longhorns within 66-53 with 6:42 left before Chery and Prince each hit 3-pointers during an 8-0 surge to boost Baylor’s lead to 21 with 4:48 remaining. Prince hit another 3-pointer to make it a 22-point margin with 3:07 remaining and the margin topped out at 26 points.

Texas missed its first 12 shots to open the contest as the Bears scored the first 12 points. The Longhorns used a 15-4 burst later in the half to pull within 28-24 before Baylor finished the half with an 11-3 surge for a 39-27 lead at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Baylor was 12-of-22 from 3-point range – Chery’s five 3s match his career high – while the Longhorns were 5-of-26. … Bears G Lester Medford had seven assists. … Texas F Myles Turner had just two points but recorded four of his team’s seven blocks.
