Butler 77, No. 24 Seton Hall 57: Andrew Chrabascz led five players in double figures with 16 points as the Bulldogs pulled away from the visiting Pirates in the second half for their fourth victory in the last five games.

Kellen Dunham scored 15, including three 3-pointers, while Roosevelt Jones chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds for Butler (15-6, 5-3 Big East), which improved to 10-1 at home. Alex Barlow contributed 11 points and Kelan Martin added 10 off the bench for the Bulldogs, who seized control with a 27-3 run in the second half.

Brandon Mobley led the way with 15 points and Desi Rodriguez registered 12 for Seton Hall (13-6, 3-4), which dropped its third consecutive contest after shooting 36.7 percent from the field. Sterling Gibbs, who scored 30 in the loss to Butler on Jan. 13, was held to 10 on 4-of-11 shooting on Sunday.

Mobley made two consecutive 3-pointers to give Seton Hall took a 37-34 lead early in the second half, but Butler responded by scoring the next 12 points – five by Dunham. Gibbs’ basket ended the run, but the Martin scored seven as the Bulldogs put together a 15-1 burst to take a 61-40 lead and cruised home from there.

Chrabascz scored seven and Dunham drained two 3-pointers as Butler quickly built a 19-6 lead as Seton Hall struggled to get going on the offensive end. Gibbs had five points and Mobley four as the Pirates scored 13 of 15 during a late stretch to pull within one before Barlow’s 3-pointer gave the Bulldogs a 32-28 lead at intermission.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bulldogs have beaten the Pirates four times in five games during the span of a year. … Seton Hall freshman G Isaiah Whitehead, the team’s second-leading scorer, missed his eighth straight game with a stress fracture in his right foot and the Pirates are 4-4 in his absence. … Seton Hall made only one of 10 attempts from 3-point range in the first half – 4-of-24 in the game.
