No. 21 Baylor 69, No. 20 Oklahoma 58: Lester Medford led the way with 17 points and five assists as the Bears came alive down the stretch and knocked off the visiting Sooners.

Kenny Chery added 13 points and Taurean Prince scored 12 off the bench for Baylor (15-4, 3-3 Big 12), which ended the game on a 23-9 run to earn a split of the regular-season series. Royce O’Neale scored 10 points and Rico Gathers collected eight points and eight boards for the Bears.

Buddy Hield and Jordan Woodard scored 12 points apiece to lead Oklahoma (12-7, 3-4), which has dropped four of its last five games. Ryan Spangler and TaShawn Thomas each contributed 10 points for the Sooners.

Thomas scored the final four points of a 9-0 spurt to out Oklahoma in front 44-40 midway through the second half but Baylor refused to fold and knotted it at 49 on Chery’s 3-pointer that sparked a 10-0 run. Frank Booker ended a 4 1/2-minute scoring drought for the Sooners with a 3-pointer but O’Neale responded with one of his own and the Bears put it away.

Baylor raced out to an 11-4 lead and controlled the pace in the first half, taking a 30-24 lead into the locker room when Chery capped the period with a 3-pointer. Oklahoma scored the first seven points after the break to grab its first lead of the game but the Bears responded with an 8-2 burst to regain the lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hield went 6-of-17 from the field and 0-of-7 from 3-point range after averaging 26.3 points in the previous four games. … Baylor has won 16 of its last 17 home games. … Gathers, who set a Big 12 record with 28 rebounds against NAIA Huston-Tillotson on Wednesday, missed a double-double for the second straight Big 12 game after grabbing double-digit boards in each of the first four.
