No. 2 Virginia 65, Clemson 42: Malcolm Brogdon scored 16 points and the host Cavaliers smothered the Tigers in the second half to remain undefeated.

Justin Anderson added 15 points for Virginia (16-0, 4-0 ACC), which led by six points at halftime before limiting the Tigers (9-7, 1-3) to 6-of-23 shooting in the final 20 minutes. The Cavaliers forced 11 turnovers and held an opponent to less than 45 points for the sixth time this season.

Jaron Blossomgame scored nine points with 10 rebounds to lead Clemson, which finished 3-of-13 from 3-point range and shot 35.7 percent from the field overall. Rod Hall recorded three of the Tigers’ four assists.

Anderson hit two 3-pointers in the final three minutes of the first half as Virginia led 25-19 at the break, and Brogdon opened the second half with a 3-pointer and later added a basket as Virginia scored the first nine points of the second half. Darion Atkins’ three-point play pushed the Cavaliers’ cushion to 37-21, Brogdon followed with five of Virginia’s next seven points and Isaiah Wilkins’ basket pushed the advantage to 46-25 with just over 11 minutes left.

The Tigers held a brief 13-12 lead on Blossomgame’s basket with just over 11 minutes left in the first half before the Cavaliers scored seven consecutive points. Landry Nnoko’s basket with three minutes left before intermission pulled Clemson within 19-17, but Virginia would limit the Tigers to two field goals over the next 10 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cavaliers, who limit opponents to a nation’s low 51.1 points per game, have held their past 40 opponents to under 50 percent shooting from the field. … Virginia is 4-0 in ACC play for the first time since the 1994-95 campaign. … Blossomgame, who scored six points in the first half, failed to reach double figures for the first time in 13 games.
