Northwestern 101, Mississippi Valley State 49: Alex Olah led five players in double figures with 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the host Wildcats reached triple digits for the first time since 1993.

Nathan Taphorn scored a career-high 16 points off the bench and Tre Demps added 15 as Northwestern (6-3) snapped its three-game losing streak. Bryant McIntosh chipped in with 15 points and six assists, Vic Law recorded 11 points and Sanjay Lumpkin collected 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, who shot a season-high 57.4 percent.

Latrell Love led the way with 15 points for Mississippi Valley State (1-8), which shot a dismal 29 percent. Jordan Washington and DeAngelo Priar each added nine points for the Delta Devils.

Olah scored eight points to help get it started and Law capped a 15-4 burst with a breakaway dunk as Northwestern pushed its lead to 14 with a little under eight minutes left in the first half. The Wildcats shot 60 percent in the opening 20 minutes, and McIntosh’s 3-pointer in the final seconds gave them a 47-26 advantage at intermission.

Demps had a dunk and capped the spurt with a 3-pointer as Northwestern scored the first 11 points of the second half to increase its lead to 58-26. The Wildcats passed their previous season high (69) on Gavin Skelly’s dunk with 12:48 remaining for a 71-34 lead and cruised the rest of the way.
