Mississippi State 59, Clayton State 46: Roquez Johnson scored a game-high 15 points and the host Bulldogs cruised past their Division II foes despite a poor night of shooting.

Mississippi State (4-0) went 0-for-7 from 3-point range in the game and shot just 38 percent overall but never trailed in the contest. Gavin Ware had 11 points and seven rebounds and Fred Thomas added five points and five steals for the Bulldogs.

Kelsey Terry led Clayton State (4-1) with 14 points and JC Bonny added 13 for the Lakers, who were outrebounded 43-30. Dantez Bennamon added eight points and Kendall Joseph scored two points and led Clayton State with six rebounds.

After Clayton State cut a first-half deficit to 17-15, the Bulldogs used a 12-0 run in the first half to take control. They led 29-18 at the break as both Johnson and Trivante Bloodman (12 points) had eight points by the intermission.

Mississippi State built its biggest lead, 48-28, on a three-point play by Oliver Black. The Lakers again trimmed the margin to 51-43 with 3:24 left but could get no closer.
