No. 7 Virginia 79, Tennessee State 36: Justin Anderson poured in 20 points on 7-of-7 shooting and Mike Tobey recorded his first career double-double as the Cavaliers routed the Tigers for their 15th consecutive home win.

Anderson matched his career high with five 3-pointers and Tobey collected 13 points and a career-best 16 rebounds for Virginia, which is 5-0 for the first time since 2007-08 and has won each game by at least 17 points. Anthony Gill added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers.

Xavier Richards and Marcus Roper scored 10 points apiece to lead Tennessee State (2-3), whose starters combined for six points on 3-of-20 shooting. The Tigers shot just 29.2 percent from the floor — the 29th consecutive opponent to fail to break 50 percent against Virginia.

The Cavaliers raced out to a 17-2 lead behind seven points from Anderson — including a four-point play — and six from Gill, and they never let the Tigers back in it. Tennessee State closed to within 30-17 late in the first half, but Virginia put together a 32-0 run spanning halftime to turn it into a laugher.

The Tigers missed 10 straight shots and committed four turnovers during the drought, which covered the final 2:50 of the first half and the first 7:31 of the second. Richards ended the scoreless stretch with a layup and hit a jumper the next time down the floor as Tennessee State scored on consecutive possessions for the first time since Roper and Rodney Simeon hit back-to-back 3-pointers before the midway point of the first half.
