No. 11 Gonzaga 72, No. 23 SMU 56: Kevin Pangos scored a game-high 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and dished off seven assists to lead the host Bulldogs.

Freshman forward Domantas Sabonis came off the bench to score 13 points and grab a game-high nine rebounds and Kyle Wiltjer, a 6-foot-10 transfer from Kentucky, added 10 points for Gonzaga (2-0). The Zags shot 45 percent from the floor, including 10-of-24 from 3-point range, and finished with a 20-10 edge in assists.

Ben Moore scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead SMU (1-1). Nic Moore and Justin Martin each added 10 points for the Mustangs, who shot just 31.1 percent from the floor, including 24.2 percent in the second half.

SMU, behind a pair of jumpers by Ben Moore, took an 9-7 lead before Gary Bell Jr. ignited a 20-6 Gonzaga run with a 3-pointer. The Zags led by as many as 13 points 34-21 after a tip-in by Wiltjer but the Mustangs, despite being outrebounded 22-11, managed to close to within 37-27 halftime.

The Mustangs got as close as eight points early in the second half, the final time on a 3-pointer by Keith Frazier that made it 43-35. But Gonzaga blew the game open with a 14-1 over the next six minutes, highlighted by 3-pointers by Bell and Kyle Dranginis, and the Zags led by as many as 25 points before coasting home.
