Reinhardt, a sophomore transfer from UNLV, had 19 points, three steals and four rebounds for USC (1-1). Freshman Jordan McLaughlin added 15 points and seven assists and Darion Clark recorded eight points and seven rebounds off the bench as he settles into the sixth-man role.

Dwan Caldwell rebounded from a slow start to finish with 19 points and five rebounds for the Golden Eagles (1-1). Center Charles Jackson added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Tennessee Tech, which shot 33.8 percent from the field.

The Golden Eagles pulled within 56-52 with 5:27 remaining, but after coach Andy Enfield called a time out, the Trojans responded with an 11-2 run to lead 67-54 with 1:58 left. Reinhardt sparked the run and USC made 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to clinch the win.

The Trojans got off to a fast start, using an 11-0 run to lead 13-2 and built the advantage to 26-13 on two free throws by Nikola Jovanovic with 7:53 remaining in the half. But Tennessee Tech rallied as USC struggled with its shooting and ball-handling, committing five turnovers, and the Golden Eagles scored the final five points of the half to pull within 29-24.
