Ole Miss 74, Troy 64: Jarvis Summers scored 21 points and Stefan Moody scored all 14 of his in the second half as the visiting Rebels bounced back from their season-opening loss to Charleston Southern.

Ladarius White collected 14 points and eight rebounds while Sebastian Saiz added eight points and nine rebounds for Ole Miss (1-1), which shot 50 percent after shooting 30 percent in a 66-65 overtime loss to Charleston Southern. Summers scored 12 points in the first half to help give the Rebels a 34-23 lead at the break.

Freshman Wesley Person Jr. scored 20 of his 25 points in the second half for Troy (1-1), which was outrebounded 42-28 and remained winless in nine all-time meetings against the Rebels. Person was 5-of-11 from beyond the arc and made all 10 of his free-throw attempts while Kevin Thomas had 13 points and a career-high 14 rebounds.

Person opened the second half with consecutive 3-pointers and made another with just under 11 minutes left to cut the deficit to 54-46. Summers answered with a 3-pointer and Moody scored four quick points to push the Rebels’ lead to 61-48 with just over seven minutes remaining.

Person, who was 5-of-8 from 3-point range in the second half, scored six straight points to cut the lead to 70-61 with 1:52 left before Ole Miss secured the win at the foul line. Troy was held to 32.1 percent shooting and missed 22 of its 29 shots from 3-point range.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Summers had a team-high five assists for Ole Miss, which committed 20 turnovers. … Person’s 25 points are the most by a Troy freshman since Rob Lewin had 19 off the bench against Nicholls State in December 2000. … M.J. Rhett had six points and six rebounds for Ole Miss, which returns home to face Southern on Thursday.
