Miami (Fla.) 69, No. 7 Florida 67: Angel Rodriguez scored a career-high 24 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer with 18 seconds to play, as the visiting Hurricanes erased a 15-point second-half deficit to upset the Gators.

Rodriguez sank five 3-pointers in the final seven minutes for the Hurricanes (2-0) and took a charge from Jacob Kurtz in the waning seconds before helping to seal the win from the free-throw line. James Palmer added 10 points off the bench for Miami, which connected on 9-of-18 from 3-point range.

Eli Carter had 21 points to lead Florida (1-1), which shot 60.9 percent in the first half to establish a comfortable lead. Jon Horford added 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and Michael Frazier II chipped in with 13 points for the Gators, who played with seven men for much of the game.

Miami used an 18-1 run to take its first lead of the game at 58-55 with 3:22 remaining. Rodriguez split a pair of free throws to knot the score before Carter's layup nudged the Gators back in front 67-65 with just over a minute to go, setting the stage for the game-winning shot for the Hurricanes.

Florida enjoyed a fast start off the opening tip, scoring the game's first nine points as Miami missed its first five shots and committed a pair of turnovers in the opening five minutes. After the Hurricanes clawed to within 13-11 on a three-point play by Omar Sherman, the Gators got seven points from Frazier as part of a 20-10 spurt in the final 10 minutes of the first half to hit the break up 33-21.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Miami improved to 23-45 all-time against Florida, defeating the Gators for the first time since Dec. 4, 2004. ... Florida F Dorian Finney-Smith, the reigning SEC Sixth Man of the Year, was available but did not play after suffering a hairline fracture in his left hand in the season opener against William & Mary. ... Hurricanes C Tonye Jekiri, Miami's only remaining player from its 2012-13 ACC championship team, recorded eight points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
