Edwards went 11-of-16 from the field and added eight rebounds and three blocks for Purdue (2-0), which recorded nine steals and forced 21 turnovers overall. Sophomore Kendall Stephens also set career highs with six 3-pointers and 24 points as the young duo combined to hit all of the Boilermakers’ eight 3-pointers.

Leo Svete and D.J. McCall led the way with 14 points apiece for IUPUI (0-2), which fell to 1-10 all-time against Big Ten opponents in its first-ever meeting with Purdue. P.J. Boutte contributed eight points, six assists and three steals as the Jaguars dropped their seventh straight game, including both this season under rookie coach Jason Gardner.

Purdue, which never trailed, scored the first seven points and raced out to a 15-2 advantage 4 ½ minutes into the contest. IUPUI halted the initial onslaught by scoring 16 of the next 25 points and trimmed the deficit to five later in the half before Edwards scored seven points in less than a minute and Stephens knocked down a triple in the final seconds to stake Purdue to a 10-point halftime lead.

Edwards and Stephens combined for the Boilermakers’ first nine points after the break as both teams started the second half slow, allowing Stephens to increase the lead to 63-49 on a 3-pointer with just over nine minutes left. McCall drained a jumper to begin a five-point spurt, but the Jaguars could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.
