It seems like nothing can stop eighth-ranked Texas A&M, not a slew of injuries, not a series of games against some tough mid-major opponents, and most recently not even the suspension of three key players.

The Aggies have taken every setback in stride, with the latest example coming Thursday as Duane Wilson had 23 points and 11 assists, and Texas A&M pulled away in the final minutes to defeat Buffalo 89-73 at Reed Arena in College Station, Texas.

Five Aggies scored in double figures as Savion Flagg added 21 points and nine rebounds, Tyler Davis had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Tonny Trocha-Morelos posted 12 points and Jay Jay Chandler added 10 points.

Wilson hit all nine of his free throws as the Aggies finished 28 of 33 from the line.

Texas A&M (11-1), which won for the third straight game since losing to Arizona by three points in Phoenix on Dec. 5, led 60-58 after Buffalo's CJ Massinburg canned a 3-pointer with 6:54 left and was up 69-65 after another 3-pointer by Massinburg with 3:34 remaining.

But then the Aggies took charge, getting four free throws by Davis sandwiched around a jumper by Wilson for a 75-65 lead with 2:07 remaining, and ran away in the final minutes.

"We are excited about being 11-1," Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy said. "The young guys that played tonight seized their opportunity and played without fear, and they gave us a needed lift.

"We were good from the line, and we did a great job of getting to the free throw line and driving into the paint. Our depth was a big key.

"We've had a great preseason. Now it's a new conference season. Our team will continue to evolve and change, it seems and we are looking forward to conference play."

Massinburg led Buffalo (7-5) with 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Nick Perkins added 17 points off the bench and Wes Clark had 17 points and eight assists for the Bulls, who lost for the second straight game after winning three in a row.

The Aggies led by as many as eight points in the first half before assuming a 34-31 advantage at halftime behind 12 points from Flagg and 10 points and six rebounds by Davis.

Texas A&M was not afraid of going inside, outscoring Buffalo 50-14 in the paint. The Aggies won the rebounding battle 44-34, but the Bulls had a 15-12 advantage in offensive glass.

Wilson has picked up the offensive slack after guard Admon Gilder, one of the Aggies' leading scorers and playmakers, went down with a knee injury last week. Wilson has led A&M in scoring the past two games.

"I let things kind of come to me," Wilson said. "A lot of times Buffalo's bigs were staying with Tyler to deny him a dump-off pass for a dunk and that let me get to the rim and make some layups.

"Coach told me to play my game, and do what I needed to stay fresh, so that's what I tried to do."

Clark led Buffalo with 10 points in the first half and Montell McRae added nine points on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the arc. Nine of Buffalo's 11 made shots during the first 20 minutes were 3-pointers.

The Bulls were 9 of 19 from long distance in the half. Conversely, the Aggies were 1 of 7.

"It's so hard to score at the rim on them, so we had to shoot a lot of 3s, and we got leg-weary late in the game," Buffalo coach Nate Oats said. "Texas A&M is a tough cover because of their size, but Wilson hurt us, too, because he got to the rim a lot. They're versatility really hurt us."

Texas A&M announced about 45 minutes before tipoff that J.J. Caldwell, D.J. Hogg and T.J. Starks would not play after being suspended.

Caldwell and Starks will return for the Aggies' SEC-opening game at Alabama on Dec. 30 after missing Thursday's game for a violation of team rules. Hogg will miss three games for a violation of Texas A&M policy.
