No. 5 Michigan 77, Cleveland State 47: Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 17 points and the host Wolverines closed the opening half with a 23-2 run to advance in the NIT Season Tip-Off.

The fifth-ranked Wolverines (3-0) advanced to play the Pittsburgh/Lehigh winner in the semifinals on Nov. 21 at Madison Square Garden. Nik Stauskas added 15 points off the bench for Michigan.

Tim Kamczyc’s 3-pointer with 11:45 left in the first half brought Cleveland State (2-1) within seven at 19-12. Michigan broke the game open before Hardaway’s 3-pointer gave the Wolverines a 42-14 halftime advantage.

Trey Burke scored 12 points with seven assists for the Wolverines, who shot 50.8 percent from the field.

Anton Grady led the Vikings with 15 points. Cleveland State shot 30.4 percent from the field.
