Georgia Tech 57, Wake Forest 56: Robert Carter Jr. hit two free throws with 8.7 seconds left, lifting the Yellow Jackets to their second consecutive road victory and a sweep of the season series with the Demon Deacons.
Georgia Tech (14-10, 4-8 ACC) trailed 56-55 with 23.6 seconds remaining. Marcus Georges-Hunt missed a dunk, but Carter corralled the rebound, was fouled and calmly sank the two free throws.
Wake Forest (11-14, 4-9) had one last shot after Georges-Hunt knocked the ball out of bounds with 1.7 seconds remaining, but Devin Thomas’ jumper kicked off the back iron at the buzzer.
The Yellow Jackets trailed by five points with eight minutes left, but battled back thanks to baskets from Daniel Miller on three consecutive possessions and seven points in the final four minutes from Georges-Hunt. Georges-Hunt led Georgia Tech with 16 points.
C.J. Harris scored nine consecutive points for Wake Forest down the stretch, finishing with 15 points. Travis McKie also scored 15 points for the Demon Deacons, who lost for the eighth time in their past 10 games.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Miller, tied for the ACC lead in blocked shots, finished with five blocks and 13 points. … The Yellow Jackets shot 2-for-6 from the free-throw line in the first half, but hit 7 of 9 attempts in the final 20 minutes. … Thomas finished with nine points and 12 rebounds for Wake Forest.
