No. 4 Duke 98, NC State 85: Mason Plumlee collected 30 points and nine rebounds and Seth Curry scored 26 as the host Blue Devils avenged one of their two setbacks by holding off the Wolfpack.

Quinn Cook added 21 points and Rasheed Sulaimon had 11 for Duke (20-2, 7-2 ACC), which suffered its first loss at North Carolina State 84-76 on Jan. 12.

Richard Howell recorded 23 points and nine boards and C.J. Leslie scored 16 as the Wolfpack (16-7, 5-5) suffered their third straight loss and fifth in the last seven games.

The Blue Devils came out on fire and opened a 25-6 lead in the first 12:17. They went 10-of-17 from 3-point range in the first half to open up a 58-37 lead at the break, getting four 3-pointers apiece from Curry and Cook.

Duke led by as many as 22 points early in the second before North Carolina State began chipping away, finally getting it back to single digits when Howell’s layup made it 84-75 with 4:37 to play. Scott Wood’s 3-pointer made it 93-85 with 1:09 left, but Curry hit two free throws and Plumlee completed a three-point play to close it out.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Duke clinched its 17th consecutive 20-win season. … The Blue Devils went 0-of-7 from beyond the arc in the second half. … The Wolfpack will not face another ranked team the rest of the regular season but still has tough trips to Clemson, North Carolina and Florida State looming.
