Cody Zeller had 19 points and nine rebounds and the Hoosiers held off the visiting Wolverines to take over the top spot in the Big Ten standings.

Victor Oladipo had 15 points and Christian Watford added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Indiana (20-2, 8-1 Big Ten), which grabbed a 5-3 lead less than two minutes into the game and never trailed again.

Trey Burke kept Michigan (20-2, 7-2) close with 25 points and eight assists, and the Wolverines were within four with 3:53 left. Indiana quickly answered with a 7-2 run and sealed the win at the free throw line.

Indiana made nine of its first 11 shots and led by 15 with 10:13 to play in the first half. Yogi Ferrell had 14 points for the Hoosiers, who shot 52 percent overall and outrebounded the Wolverines 38-29.

Michigan, which hasn’t beaten a ranked Hoosiers team in Bloomington since 1986, shot 42.9 percent, including 30.4 from 3-point range. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 18 points, but forward Glenn Robinson III was held to two points on 1-of-6 shooting, well below his average of 12.1 points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Indiana, which held the No. 1 ranking for the first six weeks of the season, could regain the top spot after current No. 1 Kansas lost 85-80 to Oklahoma State on Saturday. … The Wolverines fell to 67-5 under coach John Beilein when scoring 70 or more points. … All five starters scored in double figures for Indiana, which has won 15 of its last 16 home games against Michigan.
