Purdue 79, West Virginia 52: D.J. Byrd scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures as the host Boilermakers throttled the Mountaineers in a non-conference matchup.

Rapheal Davis added 16 points and Anthony Johnson scored 12 points as Purdue (10-8) jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead and was never threatened in coasting to its third straight victory.

Byrd connected on 4 of 6 3-point attempts, including 3 of 5 in the opening half, and the Boilermakers finished 8-of-11 from long range to improve to 6-1 all-time against West Virginia (8-9).

Eron Harris was the only player in double figures with 10 points for the Mountaineers, who had a miserable shooting performance and absorbed their third consecutive defeat. West Virginia was 8-for-28 in the first half and 17-of-58 (29.3 percent) for the game.

With Purdue ahead 15-11, Byrd hit back-to-back 3-pointers to help his team open a 37-23 lead at the half. Any notion of a comeback by the Mountaineers was quashed when the Boilermakers opened the second half on a 7-0 run to push the lead to 44-23.
