Purdue 60, Penn State 42:
Ronnie Johnson scored 13 points and A.J. Hammons added 12 and 10 rebounds as the host Boilermakers rolled over the Nittany Lions.

D.J. Byrd went 3-for-4 from 3-point range en route to 12 points and Rapheal Davis scored 10 for Purdue (8-8, 2-2 Big Ten), which snapped a two-game slide thanks to a strong defensive effort.

Brandon Taylor scored 11 points on 4-for-14 shooting and was the only player to reach double figures for Penn State (8-8, 0-4), which shot 25.9 percent from the floor.

The Boilermakers shot 54.2 percent in the first half and ended the period with a 9-3 burst and took a 30-22 lead into the break.

Neither school managed a field goal for the first 4:44 of the second half and the Nittany Lions endured another drought of over four minutes between points as Purdue pulled away. Byrd’s 3-pointer made it a 40-28 gap with 11:11 to play and he added another from beyond the arc during a 7-0 burst that pushed it to 49-30 just under four minutes later.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
The Boilermakers struggled from the free throw line, going 10-for-21. Penn State went 9-for-12 from the stripe. … The Nittany Lions had 14 turnovers and only eight assists. They have a 32-to-59 assist-to-turnover ratio in four Big Ten games. … Purdue has won seven straight over Penn State in West Lafayette, Ind.
