Villanova 61, South Florida 50: Mouphtaou Yarou had 16 points and 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season to lead the visiting Wildcats over the Bulls.

JayVaughn Pinkston added 15 points for Villanova, which won its seventh straight. The Wildcats (11-4, 2-0 Big East) took a 34-20 lead into halftime and never trailed after the 16:44 mark of the first half.

Victor Rudd led South Florida with 12 points and Anthony Collins contributed 11 but the Bulls (9-5, 0-2 Big East) were befelled by 36 percent shooting from the field and were outrebounded by Villanova 42-32.

Daniel Ochefu pitched in 12 points for the Wildcats, who came in allowing a Big East-worst 67.6 points.

South Florida will look to avoid an 0-3 start in conference play with a tough test from No. 4 Louisville up next.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Villanova improved to 6-4 all-time against the Bulls and broke a four-game losing streak in the series. ... The Bulls fell well short of their 66.5 point average in home games. ... The Wildcats remain undefeated on South Florida's home court, and are 4-0 all-time at USF's Sun Dome.
