No. 2 Michigan 62, Nebraska 47: Trey Burke led four teammates in double figures with 18 points as the Wolverines matched their best start by holding off the visiting Cornhuskers.

Tim Hardaway Jr. contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds for Michigan (16-0, 3-0 Big Ten), which equaled the 1985-86 team’s school record of 16 victories to start the season. Glenn Robinson III added 14 points, Nik Stauskas had 13 and Jordan Morgan grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wolverines.

Ray Gallegos registered 19 points, making four of his 16 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc, to lead Nebraska (9-7, 0-3). Dylan Talley added 12 points and Brandon Ubel had 10 rebounds for the Cornhuskers, who had just two second-chance points to Michigan’s 19.

Michigan was 1-for-10 from 3-point range, had only two assists and scored its season low in the first half. The Wolverines still found a way to build a 25-20 lead, getting eight points from Robinson III.

The Wolverines, who average nine made 3-pointers and had at least 10 in the last four games, were just 3-for-17 from beyond the 3-point arc overall. Michigan did not push its lead to double digits until there was 4:39 remaining in the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Michigan’s John Beilein won his 400th game as a Division I coach and 658th overall. … Nebraska’s 6-11, 314-pound center Andre Almeida was back in the lineup after missing the last game with an ankle injury. He had two rebounds, but did not score. … The Wolverines are 8-2 against Nebraska, including 5-0 at home.
