Wake Forest 66, Xavier 59: Travis McKie had 19 points and eight rebounds as the Demon Deacons pulled away late for a win over the Musketeers in the Skip Prosser Classic.

Wake Forest (7-5) went on a 21-7 run spanning the last four minutes of the first half and the first 4:38 of the second to go up 42-31. Xavier responded with an 18-6 run over the next 8:24, including 10 by Semaj Christon.

But the Deacons held the Musketeers scoreless over the next 4:38 to take a commanding 60-49 lead and closed it out from there.

Codi Miller-McIntyre added 16 points for Wake Forest, while Devin Thomas grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Travis Taylor led the Musketeers (7-6) with 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the floor. He also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Christon finished with 14.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Brad Redford's 3-pointer with 47 seconds to play kept Xavier from going without a trey for the first time all season. It was the second straight game the Musketeers had one 3-pointer.… Both teams shot 21-for-49 from the field. …The Musketeers have some time off before opening their Atlantic 10 season at home against Temple on Jan. 10. The Demon Deacons get to open their ACC schedule with a trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium to face No. 1 Duke on Saturday.
