Robert Thurman scored a season-high 14 points off the bench and the Bears snapped their three-game losing streak with an impressive win over the visiting Gauchos.

Allen Crabbe had 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting for California (7-3), which led 32-22 at halftime and extended its lead to 20 when freshman Tyrone Wallace hit a 3-pointer with 11:30 remaining.

Kyle Boswell led UC Santa Barbara (4-6) with 12 points, on four 3-pointers. Taran Brown and Nate Garth added 11 points apiece for the Gauchos, who shot 29.6 percent in the first half and 33.3 percent overall.

Wallace had 10 points and 10 rebounds in his first career start, and David Kravish added 10 points. California, which was coming off consecutive losses to Wisconsin, UNLV and Creighton, led 58-36 before the Gauchos made six 3-pointers in the final 8:10 to slowly cut into the lead.

UC Santa Barbara center Alan Williams, who was averaging 23.7 points over his last three games, made just four of his 18 shots and finished with eight points and 12 boards.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The 22 points for the Gauchos is the lowest point total in a half by a California opponent this season. … UC Santa Barbara was 13-of-30 (43.3 percent) from beyond the arc. The Gauchos entered the game averaging 8.4 3-pointers. … California improved to 32-5 in non-conference home games under coach Mike Montgomery.
