Connecticut 84, Maryland-Eastern Shore 50: Omar Calhoun scored 22 points and Ryan Boatright added 21 as the Huskies stayed unbeaten at home.

Boatright and Calhoun spearheaded a fantastic 3-point shooting performance by UConn (8-2), which went 10-of-19 from beyond the arc. Boatright made five 3s and Calhoun hit three. DeAndre Daniels scored 13 points, while Shabazz Napier totaled 11 points and eight assists.

Louis Bell scored 12 points and Ron Spencer had 11 for the Hawks (0-10), who remained winless despite outrebounding the Huskies 28-23.

Maryland-Eastern Shore was still hanging around 39-27 at halftime. That didn't last long as Boatright and Calhoun each hit a pair of 3s in the first 3:32 of the second half, putting Connecticut ahead 50-33.

The Huskies poured it on, opening up a 65-33 advantage less than nine minutes into the second period. That allowed coach Kevin Ollie to empty his bench late.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Maryland-Eastern Shore is off to its worst start since going 0-12 to open the 2002-03 season. ... Connecticut, which came in averaging 11.2 turnovers per game, committed just nine miscues. ... UConn held a pregame ceremony to honor the victims of the elementary school shootings in Newtown, Conn., and announced it was forming a scholarship fund to benefit the survivors.
