Aaron White had 18 points and seven rebounds to help the host Hawkeyes pull away in the second half for a victory over their in-state rival.

Iowa (8-2) trailed by one at halftime but put together an 8-0 run over the first 3:38 of the second half to take the lead for good.

Iowa State trailed by 10 with 7:55 to play but rallied back to within five with 4:43 left. But the Cyclones went scoreless for the next 3:40 and couldn't complete the rally.

Anthony Clemmons added 14 points and eight assists for the Hawkeyes, while Mike Gesell chipped in with 11.

Korie Lucious and Percy Gibson each scored 14 to pace Iowa State (6-3), which also got 13 apiece from Chris Babb and Georges Niang and 12 from Tyrus McGee.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State came into the game averaging 45.6 rebounds per game but managed just 31 in the loss. … Iowa won despite its leading scorer, G/F Roy Devyn Marble, shooting just 2-for-10 from the field and finishing with a season-low six points. … Iowa State has a quick turnaround, hosting Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday. Iowa has a week off before facing another in-state rival, Northern Iowa, on Dec. 15.
