Julien Lewis scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range as the host Longhorns defeated the Mavericks to improve to 8-0 in the all-time series.

Ioannis Papapetrou and Sheldon McLellan added 17 and 14 points off the bench respectively as Texas (5-2) forced 19 turnovers and shot 50 percent (13-for-26) from long range.

Jordan Reves led UT Arlington (3-2) with 15 points. The Mavericks outrebounded the Longhorns 39-27.

Seven McLellan points ignited the Longhorns out of the gate and back-to-back 3-pointers from Papapetrou pushed the lead to 27-12 lead with 4:43 left in the first half. UT Arlington answered with five straight points, but two Lewis 3-pointers sent Texas into the break with a 38-18 advantage.

Texas used three-pointers to increase its lead to 58-28 with 12:19 remaining as Lewis knocked down three and McLellan added another. The Mavericks chipped away late, but never got closer than 14.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Texas improved to 85-3 against non-conference opponents at home since the 2002-03 season. … Jamel Outler added 12 points for the Mavericks, which shot 29.5 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from deep. … Javan Felix tallied nine assists for the Longhorns.
