Bryce Cotton scored a game-high 21 points as the host Friars rolled to the non-conference win over the Stags.

LaDontae Henton added 15 points and eight rebounds for Providence (4-2), which dressed just six scholarship players due to injuries. Coach Ed Cooley's team used a 14-0 run early in the second half to beat his former squad.

Derek Needham's 18 points paced the Stags (3-3).

Cotton hit a picturesque reverse layup following his own miss at the buzzer to give the Friars a 25-17 lead at the half.

Fairfield went the final six minutes of the first half without scoring. It then made just one field goal and a pair of free throws in the first eight minutes of the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Vincent Council missed the game for Providence due to a hamstring injury. He is expected to miss approximately four more weeks. ... Fairfield's Josip Mikulic returned to the lineup after missing the previous game because of injury. The seven-footer played just eight minutes and didn't score. ... Providence outrebounded Fairfield 10-1 on the offensive boards in the first half.
