Aaron Craft scored 20 points and the host Buckeyes rolled to an easy win in their season opener.

Craft hit a career-high five 3-pointers and had seven assists. Deshaun Thomas, who scored 19 points, had nine in a row when Ohio State took control late in the first half. Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 18 for the Buckeyes, who shot 57.1 percent from the field and 60 percent (12-for-20) on 3-pointers.

Mike Black led the Great Danes (1-1) with 20 points while Jacob Iati added 13. Albany was 35.6 percent from the field and 27.3 percent on its 3-point attempts.

The game was tied 19-19 at the 6:20 mark before Ohio State finished the half on a 20-6 run. Smith's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Buckeyes a 39-25 lead heading into intermission and they cruised from there.

Ohio State's scheduled opener against Marquette on Friday, which was slated to be played on the deck of the USS Yorktown, was canceled because of moisture on the court that had been installed on the aircraft carrier.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ohio State scored 12 points off nine Albany turnovers in the first half. ... The Buckeyes had 18 assists on 32 baskets. ... The Great Danes committed 16 turnovers and had only six assists.
