Pittsburgh 81, Wofford 63: Tray Woodall delivered 16 points and nine assists and the host Panthers made a season-high 14 3-pointers in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational.

J.J. Moore added 16 points and Nasir Robinson grabbed 11 rebounds for Pittsburgh (18-16), which ensured avoiding its first non-winning season since 1999-2000.

The Panthers face Princeton in Monday's quarterfinals.

Drew Crowell scored 16 points and Brad Loesing added 15 for the Terriers (19-14), who dug themselves a hole by hitting only three of their first 19 field-goal attempts.

Pittsburgh received points from six players during a 16-0 burst, capped by Ashton Gibbs' 3-pointer, that made it 22-6 just over midway through the first half.

The Panthers sank seven 3s, including a late pair by Moore, en route to a 42-23 halftime cushion.

Wofford whittled the deficit down to six, at 51-45 on Crowell's 3-pointer with 11:50 remaining, before Pitt pushed it back to double digits.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Moore, who entered averaging 6.9 points, reached double figures for the sixth time in eight games. … Loesing tallied 13 of his points in the second half. … Wofford went 7:22 between field goals during Pitt's 16-0 first-half run. … CBI quarterfinal sites will be determined after the opening round is complete.
