D.J. Cooper scored a game-high 21 points and added five assists as the Bobcats upset the Wolverines in the second round for their second NCAA tournament shocker in three years.

Ohio (28-7), the No. 13 seed, will meet 12th-seeded South Florida in Sunday's third round of the Midwest Regional.

Fourth-seeded Michigan had four possessions and missed five shots down 63-60 in the final minutes before Walter Offutt (11 points) made two free throws to seal it for Ohio with 6.8 seconds left.

The Bobcats beat Georgetown as the 14th seed two years ago.

Reggie Keely and Ivo Baltic added 10 points each for Ohio, which shot 51.2 percent from the field and committed only nine turnovers. The Bobcats have won nine of their last 10.

Trey Burke scored Michigan’s last 12 points and finished with a team-high 16. Evan Smotrycz had 15 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. 14 for the Wolverines (24-10).

Nick Kellogg drained two 3-pointers to key an 11-0 run that gave Ohio its biggest lead, 35-22, with 2:49 remaining in the first half. Michigan responded by scoring the last seven points to close within 35-29 at halftime.

Cooper made four of his five shots and scored 13 points to lead the Bobcats in the opening 20 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Ohio made its first 11 free throws and finished 15 for 17. … Ohio is 1-3 against Michigan. The previous meeting was in 1971. … Senior Stu Douglass played 136 games for Michigan, passing Loy Vaught for the team record. Douglass’ classmate Zack Novak played 134.
