Creighton 58, Alabama 57:
Doug McDermott and Josh Jones each made a 3-pointer to spark a late 11-0 run that propelled the Bluejays to their first NCAA win since 2002.

Creighton had a 57-50 lead with 2:44 left after McDermott’s 3-pointer, but failed to put it away by missing five of six free throws in the last 33 seconds. Alabama had a chance to win at the buzzer, only to have Trevor Releford’s final shot come up short.

Creighton (29-5) got 16 points and 10 rebounds from McDermott, the Missouri Valley Conference’s player of the year, and 10 points and six rebounds from Grant Gibbs. It was the lowest number of points the Bluejays have scored in a win this season.

Alabama (21-12) was led by Releford with 14, Trevor Lacey with 13 and JaMychal Green, who ended his career with 12 points and six rebounds.

Alabama scored the final 10 points of the first half and led 30-23 at the break. The Tide appeared to have the momentum after making six straight shots and held a 51-46 lead with 7:11 remaining. But Jones came out of the timeout by making a 3-pointer that ignited the game-winning run.

Game notebook: Alabama stayed in the game by making an uncharacteristic seven 3-point baskets, three more than its season average ... Creighton outmuscled Alabama, scoring 26 points in the paint, compared to only 18 for Alabama.
