Drew Crawford led the way with 27 points and John Shurna scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half as Northwestern beat Seton Hall, 80-73, in the final of the Charleston Classic.

Luka Mirkovic added 12 points for the Wildcats (4-0), who shot 55 percent (28 of 51) from the floor.

Northwestern’s duo of Crawford and Shurna got the better of the Pirates’ big three of Herb Pope, Jordan Theodore and Fuquan Edwin. While Pope went off for a game-high 32 points on 14-of-17 shooting, Theodore and Edwin combined for 26 points on 10 of 26.

The Wildcats led 54-42 with 14:28 left when Seton Hall (3-1) finally woke up. Pope and Edwin hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark a 15-0 run that gave the Pirates the lead.

Shurna hit a 3-pointer to stop the bleeding and scored seven points over the next four minutes. Crawford’s jumper with 2:34 left put Northwestern up for good, 69-67, and the Wildcats sealed the game by going 7 of 8 from the free throw line over the final 2:01.

Pope added 10 rebounds for the Pirates.
