NO. 4 KANSAS 70, OKLAHOMA STATE 58:
Tyshawn Taylor had a team-high 27 points as Kansas held off the Cowboys to earn an unprecedented eighth straight Big 12 title.

Thomas Robinson finished with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Jayhawks (25-5, 15-2 Big 12), who have won at least 25 games in each of their last seven seasons.

With a home victory against Texas on Saturday, as well as a decent showing in next week’s Big 12 Championship, the Jayhawks should have a strong chance of receiving a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Oklahoma State (14-16, 7-10 Big 12), meanwhile, doesn’t have much to celebrate. The Cowboys needed to win their final two games to avoid a second straight sub-.500 season, and now the best they can hope for is an 8-10 record and a sixth-place conference finish.

Kansas, coming off a dramatic 19-point comeback victory over Missouri on Saturday, established itself early — taking a seven-point lead midway through the first half before extending the advantage to 30-22 by halftime.

The Jayhawks increased the lead to as many as 14 points in the second half before Oklahoma State tried to make a late run behind senior Keiton Page.

Page, who finished with a game-high 29 points, scored on three straight possessions — including back-to-back 3-pointers — to pull the Cowboys within 60-52 with 5:34 left.

But Taylor responded with a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession, and soon the Jayhawks extended their lead to 13.

Brian Williams had 20 points for the Cowboys, who shot just 42 percent and were outrebounded 33-22.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Page, who made seven 3-pointers, became Oklahoma State’s all-time leader (284), passing Randy Rutherford … The Cowboys fell to 11-4 at home … Kansas won for just the second time in its last five games at Gallagher-Iba Arena … Robinson recorded a double-double for the seventh time in his last 10 games.
