Seton Hall 73, Pittsburgh 66: Herb Pope had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and freshman Aaron Cosby scored a career-best 19 points to propel host Seton Hall.

Jordan Theodore added 15 points and nine assists, including a dish to Pope on a layup that made it 69-66 with 32 seconds remaining for the Pirates (17-8, 6-7 Big East). Freshman Brandon Mobley made a steal to secure the second straight win for Seton Hall after it had dropped six in a row.

New Jersey native Ashton Gibbs rebounded from Wednesday's season-low four points against South Florida with 26 for the Panthers (15-11, 4-9 Big East), whose slim NCAA Tournament hopes took a severe blow. Lamar Patterson added 15 points.

The Pirates led by as many as 12 in the first half, but Tray Woodall's 3-pointer pulled Pittsburgh to within 37-35 at the break – the closest the game had been since 8-8.

Pope, a Pittsburgh native who averages double digits in points and rebounds, nearly posted a double-double in the first half with nine points and nine boards.

Pitt closed the first-half gap thanks to an 11-4 advantage at the foul line, where the Panthers hit six straight to trim Seton Hall's lead to 33-30.

The momentum carried into the second half, as the Panthers reclaimed the lead and went up 61-55 on Nasir Robinson's layup with 8:12 to go. Seton Hall responded with a 10-0 burst, keyed by back-to-back 3-pointers from Theodore and Haralds Karlis.
