Marcus Denmon scored a game-high 29 points - including nine straight to give Missouri the lead in the final minutes - and the No. 4 Tigers rallied to stun No. 8 Kansas 74-71 on Saturday at Mizzou Arena.
Kansas (18-5, 8-2 Big 12) took control in the second half as star forward Thomas Robinson scored 19 of his 25 points after the break to turn the Jayhawks' five-point halftime deficit into an eight-point lead with 3:24 left.
But Denmon led Missouri back with a three-point play and a pair of 3-pointers to give the Tigers (21-2, 8-2) their first lead since the 16:37 mark.
Steve Moore drew a controversial charge call on Robinson to help the Tigers continue the rally, and Michael Dixon took a charge on Tyshawn Taylor, then sank two free throws to seal it.
The Jayhawks have dominated the series - and the Big 12 landscape - in recent years, winning 10 of the previous 11 against their border rivals and claiming seven straight regular-season conference titles, but the Tigers are trying to take bragging rights with them when they move to the Southeastern Conference next season.
Missouri pulled into a tie with Kansas and Baylor atop the Big 12 standings, and the Tigers have won their first meeting with both, giving them the head-to-head edge.
The Jayhawks and Tigers have played 143 games that were decided by single digits and 86 that were decided by five points or less.
