Perry Jones III had 22 points and 14 rebounds to help No. 7 Baylor squeak past visiting Texas 76-71.

It was the second double-double in a row and fourth of the season for Jones III, who finished 7-of-12 from the field.

Freshman Quincy Miller added 18 points on 8-of-10 free-throw shooting, and Pierre Jackson nailed a clutch 3-pointer late in the game for the Bears (19-2, 6-2 Big 12), who have won two in a row since dropping back-to-back games against Kansas and Missouri.

J’Covan Brown, the Big 12’s leading scorer, scored 20 of his game-high 32 points in the second half for Texas (13-8, 3-5 Big 12).

Baylor never trailed, but the victory was far from easy.

Texas (13-8, 3-5 Big 12) trailed 38-29 at halftime and fell behind by as many as 12 points in the second half but fought all the way back to tie the game at 54 on Brown’s 3-pointer with 8:54 left. Later, Brown hit a fall-away 3-pointer to tie it at 66 with just less than three minutes to go.

But Jackson immediately raced back down the court and connected on a pull-up 3-pointer to regain the lead. Baylor boosted it back to 73-66 a minute later.

Texas freshman Myck Kabongo cut the lead to 73-71 on a free throw with 25 seconds remaining, but Baylor iced the win with three free throws down the stretch.
