Freshman B.J. Young scored 11 points, including a emphatic dunk with 22 seconds remaining, to help Arkansas outlast pesky Auburn 56-53 on Wednesday and improve its record to 15-0 at home.
Young made only 4 of 11 field goals and was 1 for 4 on 3-pointers, but provided the clinching basket off a fast break in the final minute. The Razorbacks (15-5, 3-2 SEC) also got 10 points each from Rashad Madden and Julysses Nobles.
Auburn (12-8, 2-4) was led by Kenny Gabriel with 13 points and eight rebounds. Frankie Sullivan and Chris Denson each scored 10 points.
Auburn led 22-19 at halftime as neither team played well on offense and barely surpassed their season low marks for a half. Arkansas, which made its first 11 shots Saturday against Michigan, made only two of its first 20 and 4 of 31 for the half and was held to its lowest first-half point total of the season.
Auburn had to play most of the game without guard Varez Ward, who left the game when he was kneed in the quadricep and unable to continue.
