Vanderbilt guaranteed there’d be no second-half fade for a second straight game, leading in-state rival Tennessee by as many as 27 en route to a 65-47 shellacking of the visiting Volunteers.

Jeffery Taylor scored a game-high 23 points and John Jenkins added 16 for Vanderbilt (15-5, 5-1 SEC).

Little went right for the Vols (9-11, 1-4 SEC), who fell into a 9-0 hole and committed as many turnovers in the first 10 minutes — 10 — as they did in the entire game during Saturday’s win over Connecticut.

The Commodores bounced back nicely from an overtime loss to Mississippi State over the weekend that saw the Bulldogs open the second half on an 18-2 run. Vandy reached halftime of Tuesday's game with a 40-21 lead, and opened up a commanding 54-27 advantage before cruising down the stretch.

Tennessee, which came in allowing an SEC-low 25.8 shooting percentage on 3-pointers, let Vandy go 8-of-18 from behind the arc.

Cuonzo Martin broke out the orange blazer for the frst time as Tennessee coach but it didn’t help the Vols, who were led offensively by Jeronne Maymon’s 15 points.

There were two flagrant fouls and two technicals handed out, one to each team, and Tennessee freshman Yemi Makanjuola was ejected for a flagrant foul in the waning minutes of the game.
