Thomas Robinson scored 18 points, and Tyshawn Taylor added 17 as No. 5 Kansas pulled away from visiting Texas A&M for a 64-54 victory on Monday.

The Jayhawks (17-3) squandered a big early lead, but went on a 19-7 run late in the game to seal their fifth 7-0 start to conference play in the Big 12 era.

Robinson, one of the early frontrunners for National Player of the Year, connected on 10 of 10 free throws after shooting only 46 percent from the line in the first six conference games. He also had 10 rebounds for his 14th double-double of the season.

Center Jeff Withey added 10 points and eight blocks for Kansas.

Elston Turner scored 24 points and David Loubeau chipped in 15 for Texas A&M (11-8, 2-5 Big 12), which was hot from outside in the first half but couldn’t sustain the shooting for the entire game.

The Aggies fell behind 11-0 within the first five minutes of the game, but they fought all the way back and took a 30-28 lead into halftime when Dash Harris went coast-to-coast for a layup with six seconds left.

The teams were deadlocked for much of the second half until the Jayhawks pulled away and took a 55-45 lead on two Withey free throws with 4:41 remaining.

Kansas made a concerted effort late in the game to pound the ball inside to Robinson, who hit seven straight free throws during the decisive run.
