B.J. Young had 11 of his team-high 15 points in the first half as Arkansas, helped by a fast start, held off No. 19 Michigan 66-64 Saturday at Bud Walton Arena.

Mardracus Wade finished with 12 points and Rickey Scott added 11 for the Razorbacks (14-5, 2-2 SEC), who improved to 2-2 on the year against ranked opponents.

Michigan (15-5, 5-2 Big Ten), meanwhile, lost for the second time in its last three games and must now play back-to-back road games at Purdue and Ohio State.

The Wolverines trailed 61-48 with 6:50 left, but then used a 16-5 run — capped by Trey Burke’s layup — to pull within 66-64 with 21 seconds left.

After Arkansas missed a pair of free throws, one each by two different players, Michigan had a chance to win on its final possession. But Burke’s 3-pointer from the left side rimmed out as time expired.

Zack Novak finished with a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds for the Wolverines, who won the last meeting against Arkansas in the 1997 NIT semifinals. Jordan Morgan had 16 points and Burke added 13.

Arkansas converted on its first 10 shots of the game — including four 3-pointers — to set the tone early. The Razorbacks, who didn’t miss their first shot until the 9:52 mark in the first half, took a 34-14 lead with 6:41 left before extending the advantage to 46-33 at halftime.

Hunter Mickelson had 11 points for the Razorbacks, including a running jumper inside that gave them a 66-62 lead with 42 seconds left.
