Kenny Boynton scored 15 points as No. 19 Florida won its first true road game of the season, beating South Carolina 79-65 in a Southeastern Conference game in Columbia, S.C.

The Gators (14-4, 2-1 SEC) came in 0-4 in road games this season, including losing their SEC opener last Saturday at Tennessee. But Florida broke the skid and knocked out the Gamecocks (8-9, 0-3) with a 14-0 second-half run.

Leading 46-44 three minutes into the half, Florida freshman Bradley Beal started the run with a 3-pointer with 17:02 to go. Another Beal 3-pointer, this one with11:17 to go, pushed the Gators’ advantage to 58-44, and two Beal free throws with 10:25 left ended the run and gave Florida a 60-44 lead.

Six Gators finished in double figures. Will Yeguete scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds. Beal finished with 14 points. Erving Walker scored 11 points and had seven assists.

Bruce Ellington led South Carolina with 17 points.

Florida hosts LSU Saturday. South Carolina plays Saturday at Auburn.
