Junior forward Chris Gaston had 23 points and 17 rebounds as host Fordham held off Georgia Tech 72-66 Thursday
The reigning Atlantic 10 co-Player of the Week, Gaston notched his 10th double-double in 12 games. He has 58 points and 32 rebounds in his last two games.
Fordham (6-6) led 32-31 at the break, then opened the second half on an 18-10 run.
Tech (7-6) cut a nine-point deficit to one on Brandon Reed’s 3-pointer with 31 seconds left, but the Rams sealed it at the foul line. Reed scored 16 for the Jackets, and Jason Morris 17.
Tech became only the second ACC team to visit Fordham’s Rose Hill Gym, and first in 54 years.
Branden Frazier added 19 points for the Rams, going 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Fordham shot 20 more free throws (34-14) than Tech.
