Rob Chubb's dunk with 3.9 seconds left lifted Auburn to a 65-62 win over Hawaii in an opening-round game of the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu. Playing in foul trouble for much of the second half, Chubb finished with 14 points. Chris Denson's two free throws closed out the scoring.

A basket by Hawaii's Vander Joaquim had given the Rainbow Warriors their first lead of the game with a basket to put them up 62-61 with 8.6 seconds remaining. Joaquim finished with 10 points.

Frankie Sullivan led Auburn with 17 points, while Kevin Gabriel added 13.

With its first road win of the season, Auburn extended its win streak to four games, while Hawaii (5-5) had a three-game win streak ended. Auburn (8-1) will meet Long Beach State in the semifinal, while Hawaii will meet No. 15 Xavier in the consolation semifinal.

Zane Johnson led Hawaii with 18 points, while Joston Thomas added 12.

Auburn led by as many as 11 in first half, but went into the break up 35-29. Hawaii came out with the hot hand in the second half, going on a 14-8 run to tie the score at 43 on a pair of Trevor Wiseman free throws with 14:40 to play. Wiseman finished with eight points.
