Nik Cochran missed only two shots and scored 21 points as Davidson upset No. 11 Kansas 80-74 on Monday in Kansas City, Mo.
Cochran made 5-of-6 from the field, four of them 3-pointers, and sank 7-of-8 free throws as the Wildcats (7-3) broke a two-game losing streak.
J.P. Kuhlman scored 15, De’Mon Brooks added 13 and Jake Cohen scored 12 for Davidson, which made 11 3-pointers. The Wildcats bench outscored the Jayhawks reserves 15-6.
Kansas (7-3) had its four-game winning streak broken. The Jayhawks were led by Thomas Robinson with 21 points and 17 rebounds, his second straight double-double. Elijah Johnson and Tyshawn Taylor each scored 15, but Taylor wasn’t at full strength while recovering from surgery for a torn meniscus.
It was Davidson’s first victory over Kansas. The Wildcats nearly upset the Jayhawks in the 2008 Elite Eight before Kansas went on to win the national championship.
