Lazeric Jones turned the ball over with three seconds to play in the first half but made amends by stealing the ensuing inbound pass and finished the play with a dunk to give UCLA a double-digit lead en route to a 60-47 victory over visiting Eastern Washington on Wednesday.

Jones had 11 points at the half and finished with a game-high 19 as the Bruins won their second straight. Tyler Lamb added 14 for UCLA.

The Eagles cut what was a 14-point deficit down to just two early in the second half as high-scoring Collin Chiverton hit three long 3-pointers, but they never got any closer.

After an intentional foul was assessed to the Eagles, UCLA quickly rebuilt a 12-point lead and held off Eastern Washington the rest of the way.

UCLA (4-5) not only played without Reeves Nelson, who was dismissed from the team last week, but Travis Wear missed the game, hospitalized with a skin infection on his left foot. He is the second leading scorer on the team and originally suffered the ailment while swimming in Maui during the Bruins’ tournament visit in November.

Eastern Washington (5-5) didn’t reach double figures until there were less than four minutes remaining in the first half as the Bruins led 21-11.

Eastern Washington shot poorly throughout the contest. Chiverton led the Eagles with 15 points, but was 6-for-22 from the floor.

Cliff Colimon missed his first nine shots and finished with five points, well off his average of 14. The Eagles shot 25.9 percent.
